Gaudi, Güell, & Bus Tours

Barcelona Day 3:

Our hostel had free breakfast every day which was great to save some money. There was a nice spread of ham, cheese, bread, nutella, and juice. We finished our breakfast and headed out for the day.

We walked to the first stop of the hop on/hop off bus tour which was at La Sagrada Familia. We got to La Sagrada Familia around 10 am and tickets were SOLD OUT! 😦 Since this was our last day in Barcelona, this was definitely not acceptable. I realized that this was poor planning on our part, but come on, how could tickets be sold out? Okay, so after a mild freak out session, I used the hop on/hop off bus tour wifi to find the last two tickets for La Sagrada for later that day!!! AMEN.

We then got on the bus and stopped at Parc Güell. Tickets for the time we arrived: SOLD OUT. Another disappointment. More poor planning. Okay, so we got 8 pm tickets for that night.

Disappointment after disappointment, we couldn’t be mad at ourselves anymore so we decided to suck it up and get some focaccia and espresso.

We rode around the bus tour and saw some great sights. Barcelona is gorgeous to say the least. it kind of reminds me of Miami because it is right by the ocean. After the bus tour, we got some more espresso then headed to La Sagrada Familia.

Oh my goodness. This place was amazing! The architecture was beautiful and so interesting. There was also a museum underground the building. It was so worth it to go inside and look at everything.

Up next was Parc Güell! We went around 8:30 which was perfect to see the sunset. The park is actually huge and the grounds around the part that you pay for is free so you can walk around and relax. The part that you pay for is a scenic lookout with mosaic benches and a museum. This was all worth the frantic day of not knowing if we were going to be able to see these mesmerizing places.

After La Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell, we headed back to our hostel and ate at the tapas place next door. We sat outside and saw our Australian friends walking down the street and invited them to eat with us. We had croquettes and pizza. Croquettes are hands down my favorite thing to eat during this trip.

We then headed to check out the beach clubs but they all had really pricey cover to get in so we opted to just hang out on the beach with some new friends and then called it a night.

A great last day in Barcelona 😀
